Marketing strategy and copywriting

Q: What aspect of your marketing has the most impact on your sales? A: You’re reading the answer right now.

We write positioning, messaging, website copy, sales pages, and launch plans. Then, because we also build websites, we put the words on the page ourselves and measure what they do.

You can't bore people into buying.

You’ve got a good product. You’ve built your brand and put up a website with a shiny new design. But nobody’s interested in the headline, the first paragraph is a bit of a sleeper, and almost no one reads far enough to find out why you’re worth it.

If your customers aren’t reading what is written about your product or service, they are not going to buy.

Every line on a page has one job: get the next line read. Lose people at the headline, and they’ll never reach the part where you ask for the sale.

And bad copy doesn’t just fail to sell. It can unsell. You, your company, and your products are defined by the words you choose and the thoughts that they convey. And your relationship with your customer is shaped by how you go about it.

What we do

  • Positioning and messaging. Who you’re for, what you promise, and the proof that makes it believable. Written down in one short document, so everyone (including your website) tells the same story.
  • Website and landing page copy. Pages that address the conversation your customer already has going on inside their head: their needs, concerns, and frustrations.
  • Launch plans. A plan for the first weeks of a new product, service, or site, so you leave the ground pointed in the right direction.
  • Naming. Name candidates generated, checked for domain availability, and screened for trademark conflicts before anyone gets attached. A trademark screen isn’t a legal opinion, so your attorney still gets the final word.

And one promise we’ve made publicly for years: if the name of your new product is a joke, you’re going to hear it from us.

Launching right is the key to a successful venture.

Think about a rocket launch. You can lift off successfully but be pointed in the wrong direction, and even a fraction of a degree miscalculated in the beginning will leave you off by thousands of miles within days.

Most people make the mistake of thinking about the epic journey, and planning for what they will do when they reach their destination: hopping around the moon, chatting with aliens, maybe a few laser battles.

None of that matters if you never leave the ground.

We’ll work with you to develop a launch strategy, brand your product, and get the whole thing off the ground, with the ability to adapt on the fly.

How a strategy and copy project runs

  1. Listen first. We read what you’ve already published, look at what your competitors say, and talk with the people who sell for you.

  2. Write it down. Positioning and key messages in one short document you can share.

  3. Write the pages. Headlines first. If a headline doesn’t earn the first sentence, nothing under it matters.

  4. Build and measure. The copy goes on the page, and tracking shows what it does.

How we measure it

Conversion rate by page, form starts versus completions, how far people read on long pages, and A/B tests when there’s enough traffic to trust the result. If a test is inconclusive, we’ll say so.

Questions people ask

Can you just fix the copy we have?

Yes. Sometimes the right move is a sharper headline and a clearer call to action on the pages you already have. We’ll tell you which pages matter most.

Do you use AI to write?

We use AI for research and for first drafts of routine material. Copy we write for you is reviewed and edited by a person before you see it.

What if our copy is already good?

Then we’ll say so and point your budget at something that needs it more.

What results should I expect?

Honest ones. We set up measurement before the new copy goes live, so we compare before and after instead of guessing.
